I agree – I’d play it before I’d play Coldplay.
Its just my collection has limited space & it didn’t make the grade. If a mate came round & said “Play Autechre” it wouldn’t be the LP I took from the shelf.
I had the metal box CD & every track from that LP, limited versions, japanese etc. I kept them on my drive, but sold the original. Just wasn’t that amazing for me. If I close my eyes and listen to it, it takes me nowhere. Tri Repetae takes me round the globe without leaving my seat.
But you’re saying it was bad enough that you actually got rid of it. I mean, you’re entitled to your own opinion here, I just think that it’s quite an overlooked album. There’s a lot of stuff going on in it, and personally I really enjoyed it.
This seems to be a discussion about which is ae’s golden age
I appreciate the early stuff, It’s ae’s approach to techno-ish IDM, brilliant, and the newer stuff is absolutely brilliant as well, Quaristice is the perfect album in my opinion.
So lets settle our differences lol and come together, WE ALL LOVE AUTECHRE
Age has nothing to do with it. Sound is sound, good or bad and everyone hears it differently anyway. But I wouldn’t call Tri Repetae or even Amber shite. Infact not even Incunabula.
If Quaristice and Tri Repetae both came out last week – I would still pick TR. I drag it out now and then and have done for 10 years – where Quaristice isn’t played anymore – just 1 year after release, regardless of fancy metal cover. TR took me somewhere. Q just took me to the vinyl exchange for cash back.
this the best warp could come up with for an unreleased ae track. so what if its old. too many knobers out there wishing ae would release stuff that xounds like their old stuff. shite
this is probably two years before incunabula. and definitely awesome. i wish there were more unheard tracks from autechre on warp20 box set, too bad it’s just one

Not saying it was crap – just not good enough to maintain a place in my collection.
Quaristice was a beautiful album, I dunno what you’re on about.
I actually really enjoyed Untilted. One of my favorites, in fact. Very minimalistic, but I love the progressive nature of the beats.
This is brilliant. Play it loud, on CD, on a decent stereo, and it’s just perfect.
